Begin with the condition of the home

Tell the inspector about past termite activity, leaks, additions and repairs. Ask which areas are accessible and whether concealed spaces limit the findings. An inspection cannot establish the condition of every hidden piece of wood.

Keep moisture and termite work coordinated

Report drainage or plumbing problems and wood in contact with soil. Moisture correction can be important property maintenance, but termite treatment is not mold remediation or a repair for a leaking building.

Review the written plan

• What treatment or preventive service is proposed?
• What installation and follow-up are included?
• What must the owner maintain or report?
• What are the renewal terms and coverage limits?
• Does suspected damage need a separate professional assessment?

Avoid choosing a plan solely from broad promises. Compare the work and terms for your property, and retain inspection reports and service records.
