Pavement Ant Identification and Property Tips

Pavement ants often nest around paving and can forage into buildings. Identification helps distinguish them from other small dark ants.

Identification and habits

Workers are small and brown to black, with fine grooves on the head and midsection visible under magnification. Nests may occur beneath stones, paving or slabs.

What to do at your property

Note trails, soil at pavement joints and indoor sightings. Store food securely and report where activity repeats. Ask about nest location and how selected bait or treatment fits the site, rather than treating every outdoor ant mound as an indoor infestation.
