Cellar spiders are delicate, long-legged spiders often seen in sheltered corners. They are generally nuisance web-makers rather than a significant danger to people.
Identification and habits
Their legs are much longer than their small bodies, and they build loose webs. They may vibrate in the web when disturbed. The claim that they are the world’s most venomous spiders is a myth.
What to do at your property
Remove unwanted reachable webs and reduce clutter where inspection is difficult. An occasional cellar spider does not automatically require treatment. For repeated or uncertain sightings, request identification and discuss the actual areas of concern.
