Identification and habits
These ants can vary in size within a colony. Nesting activity may leave coarse debris near affected wood. They excavate wood rather than eating it, and moisture-damaged wood can provide favorable nesting conditions.
What to do at your property
Report recurring ants, leaks and suspicious wood debris. Do not assume that removing visible workers resolves a nest. Ask about inspection of accessible areas, moisture repairs and ant service.
