American cockroaches are large reddish-brown roaches. A sighting should be identified and assessed for its source and entry route.
Identification and habits
Adults are larger than German cockroaches and are associated with warm, moist locations. The nickname “water bug” is not a reliable species identification.
What to do at your property
Note the room and timing, report leaks and check accessible door or utility gaps. Ask whether monitoring or targeted service is recommended. Do not assume the treatment needed for one cockroach species fits every other species.
Photograph the pest clearly and note where and when it appeared. Ask Plank about identification and whether inspection, prevention or selected treatment is appropriate. The service scope and any follow-up are confirmed for your property.
